Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Engineering Technologist (ET) is responsible for initial review and preparation of accurate and specification compliant quotations that meet all client requirements, and provide the highest level of efficient and effective costing.

Interfacing with clients and operations, the ET is responsible for development and setup of new and existing products manufactured by Northside and its supplier base while promoting the highest levels of safety, manufacturability and quality. The ET will also interface with all departments to ensure seamless integration of product development, revisions, improvements and all elements that affect quality, on-time delivery and cost.

This role is key in leading and implementing strategic cost reduction strategies, operational efficiencies, production employee engagement while maintaining all customer requirements and specifications.

Key Role Responsibilities:

  • Prepare accurate quotations, ensuring specification compliance and quotation deadlines are met as well as all contractual commitments e.g. delivery, etc.
  • Verify and validate customer designs and requirements to ensure manufacturability and accurate quotations.
  • Assist in development and maintenance of company engineering standards and procedures.
  • Accurately setup and maintain ERP system for new and existing parts and products.
  • Create and maintain cut files for CNC equipment.
  • Operate CAD software, and prepare and Modify shop drawings for production ensuring accuracy and transferring all applicable information required to build the part to the customer specifications
  • Review customer requirements and specifications and translate into accurate and understandable work instruction, Routings, for the shop floor.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

  • Mechanical/Automotive/Manufacturing related diploma, degree or related training or experience
  • Minimum 1 year Quality Inspection training or experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • 1 year background and understanding of blueprint reading and knowledge of GD&T an asset
  • Knowledge of ISO9001 Quality Control methodologies, systems, regulations, guidelines and associated standards an asset.
  • Knowledge of sheet metal and structural steel manufacturing methodologies.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Proficient with Autodesk Inventor or similar software.

  • Ability to create and review technical documentation, including RFQ’s, design documents and requirements, customer specifications, etc.

  • Ensure customer and internal product designs are safe, efficient, and able to be manufactured at competitive costs and recommend improvements. ·
  • Ensure compliance to any applicable customer, local, national or international standards.
  • Provide input for annual budget for upgrades, software, hardware, or improvements
  • Assist and coordinate development of fixtures and tooling with production.
  • Review customer and supplier feedback and provide responses while adding value and maintaining a positive relationship and resolution.
  • Ensure conformity to safety requirements defined by Northside and/or Customers.
  • Performs other duties as required

Benefits

Salary: $48,000 to $58,000 per year

  • Overtime as required.
