Northside Industries requires positive, team-oriented individuals who can contribute to the growth of the company by supporting our Shipping and Receiving department. Reporting to the Logistics Supervisor, you will be responsible for:

Job Duties:

1. Receipt, Inspection and Shipping

  • Coordinate and ship of all goods and materials, including assembling and weighing packages, and tracking costs.
  • Record contents of outgoing shipments manually or digitally, and affix identifying information and shipping instructions to packages.
  • Determine method of shipment, prepare bills of lading, customs forms, invoices and other shipping documents.
  • Follow inspection procedures to ensure the condition and specifications of the goods and materials are as ordered.
  • When necessary, work with freight carriers, vendors, and quality team to resolve shipping / damage claims.
  • Use mechanical and power vehicles (forklift/pallet jacks) to load and unload goods and materials.

2. Data Entry and Records Management

  • Update status of inbound and outbound orders in ERP system.
  • Prepare appropriate receiving reports to document proof of delivery, short shipments, over shipments, damage, and discrepancies.
  • File, maintain receiving and shipping documents in a central filing system.

3. Expediting

  • Contact suppliers and/or respond to inquiries from suppliers regarding delivery status.
  • Resolve discrepancies between order and goods such as delays, shipment condition, weight, and quality.
  • Identify actual or potential delivery or documentation problems and work with Scheduling to take appropriate corrective action.

4. Shipping and Receiving Maintenance

  • Maintain a clean, orderly shipping and receiving area.
  • Perform general housekeeping duties within the shipping and receiving area.
  • Ensure forklift and other equipment is maintained and stored safely.
  • Ensure the Receiving/Shipping area is secure during the workday.

5. Communications

  • Forward all expediting information to Purchasing.
  • Notify operations on delivery delays.
  • Provide all invoices and receiving documentation to Accounts Payable.

Working Conditions:

  • Manufacturing environment subject to outside weather conditions while operating forklift to load/unload/pick customer orders and put away inventory.
  • Frequent lifting of heavy items including carrying, pushing, and pulling goods.
  • Will be required to stand for long periods of time.
  • Able to work in a highly active physical environment.
  • Continuously required to wear steel toed work shoes.

Qualifications

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Ability to lift heavy objects and operate material handling equipment.
  • Ability to prioritize and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good communication and organizational skills.
  • Sound knowledge of safety regulations regarding equipment operation and product storage.
  • Familiarity with inventory management systems.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Forklift certification an asset.

Wage: $19.00 to $23.00 per hour
